Abstract
A 20-days old neonate presented with diffuse swelling over left temporal and infraorbital region for 5 days without any conjunctival congestion. Clinical and radiological evaluation revealed presence of an abscess extending from scalp to left orbit via the subperiosteal space manifesting as proptosis. The child was treated with antibiotics followed by incision and drainage of the abscess at infra orbital region. It resulted in regression of proptosis. The case highlights the need for immediate surgical intervention in patients with subperiosteal abscess not responding to conservative measures.
