Abstract
Suicide is one of the major causes of mortality worldwide and the prevalence is increasing in an alarming rate. Causes for suicide and suicide attempt are many and vary across geographical, ethnical and socio- cultural back-ground . This study is done to find out the relationship of suicide attempts with various socio-demographic and clinical variables. Socio-demographic and clinical variables of seventy five persons admitted with history of attempted suicide in a tertiary care hospital were assessed. Age between twenty and thirty years, inter personal difficulties, monetary loss, low socioeconomic status ,adjustment disorders and depressive disorders are found to have a positive correlation with suicide attempts.
