Abstract

Bed bugs are blood sucking arthropod parasites and are found in tropical and temperate regions. They are small, oval-shaped flat, reddish brown wingless insects. They possess a segmented abdomen and exhibit ant-like movement. They mate by traumatic insemination. Bed bugs have adapted to the human environment. They get distributed from human travel. They bite human hosts and suck the blood. They feed during night times without being noticed. Bite of bed bugs result in cutaneous and systemic reactions. They are not known to transmit or spread diseases. Antihistaminics control urticarial, itchy lesions. Improved cleanliness will help in the control of beg infestations.
