Abstract

We report a case of amyloid goitre In a 23 years old female, who presented with rapidly growing left sided solitary nodular thyroid swelling with pressure symptoms since one year. Thyroid profile was within normal limits. Presence of amyloid was confirmed by apple green birefringence of Congo Red stained sections under polarized light. There was no evidence of medullary carcinoma or association of any other organ Involvement to suggest systemic amyloidosis. This presentation of localized amyloid goitre In a young age Is a rare occurrence.
