Writing a manuscript is an art wherein the complex scientific data is written in a narrative format. Scientific writing plays an important role for an Academician in the field of research and publication. The journals follow certain ethics while publishing articles thereby looking into the plagiarism of a submitted article. Plagiarism is an act of taking someone’s work or an idea into one’s work without the consent or proper acknowledgment of the main author. Plagiarism, though not a crime, can account for copyright infringement and is considered a breach of ethics. Plagiarism is considered an act of misconduct and its consequences vary based on the type of plagiarism and the context in which it occurs. Plagiarism infringes upon the original author’s copyright. For an Academician plagiarizing can damage one’s reputation and result in loss of job/funding and also lead to legal consequences. If the Editor of a Journal ascertains that the plagiarism has taken place, he/she will either “reject” the manuscript if it is under editorial process or “retract” if it is already published. All scientific writings should be honest, moreover, all the original sources should be credited properly, failing which the article is entitled to plagiarism. Plagiarism can also be reduced by paraphrasing the context or using quotations, citing and maintaining records of references properly. The authors can check the plagiarism of their article in reliable Plagiarism software. This will help them to have an idea as to how unique their article has been written. So, fellow researchers, be honest in your work and send your unique work for the entire world to read. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
