INTRODUCTION
Scientific and research writing is crucial for a teaching career in healthcare education. Doing research is only half of the picture. If the results of research studies are not published, other researchers cannot further build on it and overall science can not develop and grow. Compared to the number of scientific articles published by Modern medicine followers, the scientific articles published by AYUSH faculty is very less. It is also observed that many academicians and scientists of AYUSH aren’t aware of the significance, importance and need of article writing and publishing. This was considered as one of the primary reasons for non submitting of articles to RJAS for publication and hence there are 4 back issues pending for publication because of the dearth of articles. In this background the RJAS editorial committee felt that there is a necessity to appraise the AYUSH teachers about need, relevance, and importance of scientific writing and to impart formal training on different aspects of article writing and publishing. Therefore an idea of conducting a Workshop on Scientific Writing and Article Publication was conceived.
OBJECTIVES
• 1. To sensitize AYUSH teachers on different aspects of scientific article writing.
• 2. To impart training of scientific article writing
• 3. To motivate, encourage teachers to take up article writing and to publish.
METHODOLOGY
One day workshop was conducted in five different zones. There are around 100 AYUSH colleges affiliated to RGUHS out of which, five colleges were identified as organizing institutions. Nearby colleges were tagged to each organizing institution. Each college was asked to depute five teachers (from all cadres) for training. In each organizing institution 100 teachers could be trained. The TA/DA of the teachers was borne by their parent institution. There was no registration fee; however the registration was made well in advance. University appointed Mr Amarnath, Section officer, Prasaranga to oversee and facilitate the conduct of the workshop. The TA/DA of the university officer was borne by the university. A grant of one lakh twenty thousand rupees was released to all organising colleges well in advance. The institutions have submitted the report along with UC.
Role of organising institution
The Principal of the college assigned one responsible faculty member as organizing secretary and oversaw smooth conduct of the workshop. The hall for the workshop along with an audio visual system was provided free of cost. The institutions arranged all other things required for the conduct of the workshop.
