Agni is considered as central point around which remaining factors are responsible for maintenance of normal health & manifestation of diseases. It is also considered as one of the ten factors which are to be examined before initiating the treatment of the patient. Biological Agniwhich is "deha agni" is of 13 types i.e.Jatharagni-01, Pancha bhutagni-05 and Sapta dhatuwagni-07. Among this. Jatharagni is most important and it refers to various function of the body. It controls the function of Bhutagni and Dhatwagni. It also plays a crucial role in Ahara pachana in the kostha (i.e corresponding to Gastro-intestinal digestion) which leads to separation of Sara bhaga (nutrient fraction) & kitta bhaga (undigested or residue of food) So this paper gives a clear "Concept of Agni" in normal health in one or the other way connected with modern concept too.
