Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of Jalaukavacharana (leech therapy) in the management of external thrombosed piles and comparison with surgical excision.
Study Design: 30 patients fulfilling the inclusion criteria were randomly selected and divided into 2 equal groups, group I and group ll. Group I was treated with leech therapy and group Il with surgical excision. Assessment was done before and after the treatment.
Result: Leech therapy was found more effective than surgical excision in external thrombosed piles.
