Abstract

Kushta is a tridosha pradhana, raktapradoshajanya vyadhi which causes the vikruti of shareera. The present study was undertaken kushta vis-a-vis psoriasis. The current treatment modalities explained in contemporary system of medicine in the management of psoriasis have their own limitations and considerable side effects when used for a longer period. In the present situation there is a need to evolve a more comprehensive, economical and safe method of management of Psoriasis. Hence the current study was taken up to evaluate the efficacy of Virechana karma in the management of kushta vis-a-vis psoriasis. The present study was conducted in 40 subjects divided into 2 groups of 20 subjects each. Group A(control group) subjects were administered swamaksheeri swarasa 10ml with 100ml of milk early morning in empty stomach, Guduchyadi kashaya 30ml tid after food with equal quantity of water and Suryapaki kutaja taila for external application for 21days and group B(trial group) subjects were administered virechana karma followed by above said shamanounshadhis for 21days.
