Abstract

OBJECTIVES: To know the profile of breast cancer according to age, site and side and identifying the probable risk factors of breast cancer and the various clinical presentations. The study also assessed the management strategies adopted/suggested for various breast cancers by surgeons/physicians

METHODS: This cross sectional study was conducted over a period of 16 Months from January 2011 to March 2012 in Karnataka cancer therapy and research institute, Navanagar, Hubli with the intention to study the profile of breast cancer patients and to identify the probable risk factors breast cancer. The present study was conducted in charitable comprehensive cancer care centre registered under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 named as Karnataka cancer therapy and research institute.

CONCLUSION: In today's wprld, Cancer is considered as a mordern epidemic and is the second largest non-communicalbe disease and has a sizeable number of affected people. The present study is a cross sectional, hospital based study undertaken to know the profile of breast cancer patients and for identification of probable risk factors with it, various clinical presentations and management strategies of breast cancer
